Police in plea to the public after Albrighton arson spree
Police are appealing for witnesses after a spate of alleyway fires in Albrighton.
It comes after
last month.
And officers were called out again on Tuesday night to Albrighton Railway Station where youths were seen lighting and throwing plastic bottles from an old building.
Pc Nick Allbutt, from the Shifnal and Albrighton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said the incidents could not be linked but urged witnesses to come forward.
Four alleyway fires have been reported in the last week alone, the first causing damage to a fence on September 9 in the Grange Road area.
The following day, a handbag was set alight near Bowling Green Lane, also near to a fence.
On Monday, arsonists torched pieces of wood near the pond in Donington.
Constable Allbutt said: "We cannot link the incidents in the area but our worry is that the large fire involving a wheelie bin and two cars could have been a lot worse.
"We think the spate of small alleyway fires is kids and we were called to youths lighting plastic bottles and throwing them off a building at Albrighton Railway Station on Tuesday.
"What we want people in the area to do is report anything that they may see."
The Station Road blaze involved firefighters battling for an hour to get the flames under control. It left one post van with 60 per cent damage including broken windows and burst tyres and the other with 10 per cent damage.
Anyone with any information on the fire is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
