Nesscliffe homes scheme finally lodged
Formal proposals have been lodged for nearly 40 homes in a Shropshire village after more than a year of planning and consultation by developers.
The bid could see up to 39 homes built in Nesscliffe and will include a new access to the village school and a drop off and pick-up facility.
They application comes after a separate bid for 26 homes in the village was given outline permission by county planners.
The new outline bid has been put forward by local farmers and landowners JC and WM Suckley and is out for public consultation.
Three villagers have objected to the plans with one claiming the bid will "destroy Nesscliffe as one of Shropshire's finest villages."
A design and access statement said the applicants had carried out a "thorough and robust consultation process" with Shropshire Council officers, the parish council, St Andrew's School and the local community.
Meetings were held with the parish council in March and April last year and an exhibition was held at Nesscliffe Village Hall in July last year where more than 70 local residents attended and more than 30 questionnaires were completed.
The statement adds: "To inform consultations, a development framework was produced. This looked at how longer term development of up to 64 homes and associated infrastructure may be developed across the wider landholdings of JC and MW Suckley across the northern extents of the village.
"Outline planning permission has been approved for 26 homes on the site forming the southern part of the development framework area.
"This outline planningapplication is for 39 houses across two adjacent sites including a new vehicular and pedestrian access route to St Andrew's CE School from Holyhead Road, together with a site for community uses with associated access and landscape infrastructure."
The statement says the site is "well positioned to deliver new homes in a sustainable location, with good access to the village shop, community services and bus services" and will include a 1.7 acre site for community use.
Three residents have objected to the plans with Joanna Piatek writing to Shropshire Council: "I only moved to Nesscliffe to live a rural life style and feel this proposal will destroy Nesscliffe as one of Shropshire's finest villages."
Objector Rebecca Latham said: "I feel very sad that yet another lovely village could be destroyed by more buildings."
Shropshire Council plans to determine the application by October 27.
