The annual vintage vehicle show put on by the Mid Shropshire Vintage Club attracted about 1,500 to the Shrewsbury Showground in the sunshine.

There were hundreds of vehicles on show for people to look around as well as a classic fairground and stalls.

Derek Sheedy, the chairman of the club said: "As always we think that we have succeeded in putting a show to suit all tastes.

"It has gone very well and everybody has had a good time.

"The weather has been great and people have really enjoyed themselves.

"We would like to give special thanks to the many exhibitors, traders and sponsors who support us."

Derek Marston, from Halfway House, was displaying his 1960 Massey Ferguson 35 at the show and said the weekend had been a great social event.

John Allman from Whitchurch was displaying a 1960 Fordson Dexter said: "It's been a nice day it really has.

"We got up early and brought the tractor down and have spent the whole day here and there have been lots to see and plenty of exhibitors."

But it is not just vehicles on show, with many stalls and model displays for people to look at.

Tom Roberts,69, from Oswestry collects model vintage steam engine models for a hobby and had a stand in the pavillion displaying some £15,000 worth of models.

He said: "It has been a champion time.

"I have really enjoyed myself having a look around and talking to people about the models we have been displaying.

"There has been a lot of interest in our stand and I just love talking to people about it."

Terry Titley from Shrewsbury visited the event on the Saturday.

He said: "It has been a smashing show and seeing some of the vehicles is like going down a trip along memory lane.

"I especially liked the old 1950 and 1960's cars which were fantastic to look around."

Yesterday (SUN) saw the most visitors of the two days when there was a visit from a tradition London Routemaster bus to enjoy.

Event secretary Lance Jackson said: "The bus came up from London for the day and that was very popular.

"We also had shire horses and steam engines.

"This was our 28th year and we're pleased with how it went.

"We are planning a few changes next year to open it up to younger people."

The two day event is aimed at raising money for charity and any surplus takings to what has been spent on putting the event on will be donated to Severn Hospice and Hope House Hospice.

The vintage club meets at Upton Magna Village Hall near Shrewsbury on the third Wednesday of every month at 8pm.
