Traffic grinds to a halt as circus lorry gets stuck in Shrewsbury street
A road in Shrewsbury was blocked today as the circus came to town . . . and one of its lorries got stuck.
Traffic came to a standstill after the Zippo's lorry became stuck on a tight corner in the town centre.
Traffic was brought to a halt as one the articulated vehicle attempted to negotiate Claremont street.
By-standers stood and watched as the lorry struggled on a tight bend near the Town Friar fish and chip shop.
One on-looker , who was caught up in the delays, said: "He clearly got stuck and under-estimated how tight that corner is.
"I was on my way into work when I was redirected in Mardol.
"We were told a lorry was stuck and it's no wonder when you see what he tried to do."
Fortunately the driver was able to carefully steer round the corner and make his way to the Quarry, where Zippo's is setting up for its first appearance in Shrewsbury.
The circus will be be performing in the town until June 1.
