Plans for Shropshire village gipsy site closer to approval
Controversial plans for gipsy pitches in a Shropshire village have moved a step closer after they were recommended for approval, despite more than 150 objections to the scheme.
The plans, for the land off Pixley Lane, Hinstock, near Market Drayton, have met with strong opposition from Hinstock Parish Council and a 158-signature petition has been sent to Shropshire Council.
Parish councillors fear the move to create three pitches will lead to an increase in crime in the area. There have been 253 public comments of opposition made to the plans which include objections such as a lack benefits to local community.
In a report, planning officer Tim Rogers said the concerns of the parish council and the residents had been noted but there was no requirement for the applicant to prove a local connection.
