Almost 50 homes could be built in a Shropshire village, under plans revealed today.

Outline plans have been submitted to Shropshire Council to create 47 homes off Chester Road in Hinstock, near Market Drayton.

Applicant, Chester Road (Hinstock) Developments Ltd, said the scheme will help the council meet a shortfall of providing land for housing in the county.

Amendments have already been made to the proposal, including reducing the number of homes from 51 to 47, following comments made at a public consultation event last month. The exact type of houses and how much the development could cost is not yet known.

Eric Balchin, chairman of Hinstock Parish Council, said: "

This proposal will probably be raised at our AGM on May 6 where we are hoping to get a planning officer to talk about planning in general."
