Motorcyclist seriously injured after Ludlow crash with lorry
A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a crash with a lorry on a main road in Shropshire.
The accident happened near the spot a motorcyclist was killed in a separate collision with a lorry just 11 days earlier.
The latest casualty was a man in his 50s who suffered serious head and chest injuries shortly after 5pm on Saturday at the junction of the A49 and the A4113, Bromfield, Ludlow.
The A49 remained closed in both directions for more than five hours while police carried out investigations.
The lorry driver was unhurt.
Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 5.10pm to the junction of the A49 and A4113 junction.
"We sent the an ambulance and the Midland Air Ambulance from Cosford was also in attendance.
"The motorcyclist, a man in his 50s, suffered head and chest injuries.
"He was anaesthetised at the scene and flown to University Hospital in Birmingham. His injuries were serious."
Helen Thomas, Force Duty Inspector at West Mercia Police, said the road remained closed until shortly after 10pm.
She said: "We were called at 5.16pm following a crash between two vehicles, a motorcycle and a lorry.
"We are still making enquires but it appears to be a potentially serious accident."
Motorcyclist Nicholas Stephen Taylor was killed when his machine was in collision with a lorry on the A49 Bromfield Road at about 2.30pm on April 1.
Mr Taylor, aged 64, from Knighton, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to call Shrewsbury police station on 101 quoting reference number 560S120414.
