A funeral service was held at St Giles Church in Wenlock Road, Shrewsbury, followed by a committal at Shrewsbury Crematorium.

The family requested that flowers were from the family only. Donations were welcome in aid of Severn Hospice and Severn Area Rescue Association.

Mr Rothwell was last seen in Abbots Road, Monkmoor, on February 3 2012.

He had been on a night out with friends and was dropped off by a taxi at about 12.30pm. The alarm was raised at about 7.45am, after some of his belongings were found near the River Severn.

The remains of Mr Rothwell, of Coller Meadow in Belvidere were found at Ismore Coppice, on the Attingham Park estate on March 20.

An inquest last week held in Shrewsbury heard that forensic analysis of teeth found at the scene were identified as belonging to Mr Rothwell, as was an Armani watch.

The 36-year-old was formally identified following the comparison of dental records.

The inquest at the Guildhall in Shrewsbury was opened on April 2 by Mr John Ellery, coroner for Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin, and adjourned until July 24.
