Tag for worker who who stole £4,000 from Tesco in Ludlow
A supermarket worker who stole £4,000 from Ludlow's Tesco store in less than three weeks has been electronically tagged.
Katie Joanne Sinnott, 31, of Milton Road, Ludlow, admitted stealing the cash from the town's Tesco store between September 1 and September 18 last year when she appeared at Telford Magistrates Court yesterday.
Mr Mike Phillips, prosecuting, said CCTV showed Sinnott counting out notes manually and putting them on one side, instead of using the counting machine.
Mr Michael Surzyn, defending, said Sinnott stole £200 to £300 at a time to help pay family debts, fully intending to pay it back. But he said the financial situation worsened to the point where she had no chance of paying it back.
Sinnott was sentenced to a six-month community order with an electronically-monitored curfew from 7.30pm to 7.30am. She was ordered to pay back the £4,000, pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
