Daniel Griffiths-Morton, 23, had been drinking when an argument broke out with his wife over how he had laid lino in their house in Muxton.
At Telford Magistrates Court, Griffiths-Morton, of The Foldyard, admitted charges of assault and resisting arrest.
Mr Mohammed Kasujee, for Griffiths-Morton, said his client suffered from mental health problems and depression and had been given the wrong medication, which had turned him violent.
He was handed a suspended 24-month community order and was also told to complete 60 hours unpaid work and pay £85 costs.
