Police seize £1,100 of drugs in early morning Market Drayton raid

A 30-year-old man and 33-year-old woman have been arrested after drugs worth £1,100 were found in an early morning raid in Market Drayton.

Police found £800 worth of cannabis together with suspected cocaine worth £300 at a home in Oakfield Road.

The raid, which took place at 6.30am, involved twelve officers from Market Drayton, Whitchurch and Wem.

The man and woman were taken into custody at Shrewsbury police station on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Police entered the home by breaking down the front door.

Sergeant Claire Greenaway of West Mercia Police, who led the operation, said: "We received information from members of the public which helped us prepare today's action.

"There is huge concern in the Market Drayton community about illegal drugs and we are responding to those concerns.

"We will continue to act whenever we get information and urge people to contact us in confidence on 101 if they suspect drug activity, or indeed, any other criminal activity."
