BMW driver plea after cyclist hurt near Shrewsbury

Police are searching for the driver of a BMW which hit a teenage cyclist and failed to stop.

The 19-year-old cyclist was struck by a silver BMW at the junction of the A458 and the B4380 in Cressage, near Shrewsbury, yesterday shortly before 9pm.

He was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and was treated for minor injuries.

Richard Ewels, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "After the accident the cyclist, a young man aged 19, was taken to hospital.

"We would like to speak to the driver, or anyone who knows who he is, and we are appealing for witnesses to this accident. They should ring 101 if they have any information.

"The car was a silver BMW which was heading towards Much Wenlock."
