The drivers were caught parking illegally on two evening patrols carried out by enforcement officers.

In future offenders will be issued penalty charge notices which will carry a maximum fine of £70.

Shropshire Council launched the crackdown after complaints from residents and bus and taxi drivers about indiscriminate parking in the town centre during the evenings and concerns about safety issues.

Sixty-seven warning notices were handed out during the first two patrols, which took place on August 16 and 21 between 7.30pm and 9pm.
