Victims cut free from wreckage in Shropshire crashes

Firefighters had to cut people free from the wreckage of their vehicles after two accidents in Shropshire.

Two people were trapped in an accident on Holyhead Road at Snedshill, Telford, at 5.17pm yesterday, near to the Aldi supermarket. Three cars were involved.

Fire crews from Telford and Wellington used special cutting equipment to release those trapped by 6pm. Inspector Jane Fitzpatrick, from West Mercia Police, said those involved suffered "slight injuries".

In the second accident a person was trapped when an Audi A6 and a Chevrolet collided on the Smithfield Road in Shrewsbury, close to Shrewsbury Hotel, at about 9.45pm. Firefighters from Shrewsbury had to remove the roof of the Chevrolet to release the trapped person in 30 minutes. Their injuries were not believed to be serious.
