Plans unveiled for free Christmas parking in Ludlow
Plans to boost to trade in Ludlow by offering free parking and a festive market in the weeks leading up to Christmas have been unveiled.
Shoppers will be able to park free in the town on every Tuesday in December, while a Christmas market offering hog roasts, music and stalls will be held around the town's Christmas tree in Castle Square.
The plans for Tinsel Tuesdays have been unveiled today by officials at Ludlow Chamber of Trade and Commerce.
It comes after chamber chiefs also launched an Only in Ludlow campaign to showcase more than 50 independent shops in the town.
Muff Murfin, chairman of the chamber of trade and commerce, said the events would bring a boost to the local economy.
He said: "Ludlow promises to pack a punch for shoppers this December with a new Christmas concept, Tinsel Tuesdays.
"For every Tuesday in December the town will be offering free parking in all car parks between 2pm and 6pm courtesy of Shropshire Council. There will be a Christmas gift market that promises shoppers something a bit special as well as a hog roast, music, impromptu panto previews by the crew of Aladdin from Ludlow Assembly Rooms as well as some carol singing around the Christmas tree.
"Tinsel Tuesdays have come from the chamber's regular monthly meetings with local businesses.
"We are all behind this initiative. It is our chance to make a serious Christmas shopping offer and we hope to attract extra customers to town to boost trade for the many of our excellent independent shops, all of which offer something different.
"The chamber of trade will also launch its Only in Ludlow campaign which supports independent shops.
