Motorcyclist dies following crash with 4x4 in Shropshire
A man has died after a motorbike and a 4x4 towing a caravan crashed in Shropshire.
The motorcyclist, who has not been named, died before he could be airlifted to hospital following the smash on the A5 at Crackley Bank, near Shifnal.
It happened at about 10am today (SAT) close to Burlington Pool, between the B4379 crossroads and the A41 junction.
The road was closed in both directions following the crash.
Suzie Fothergill, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman, said: "Crews were called to reports of a collision between a motorbike and a 4x4 vehicle towing a caravan.
"The motorcyclist, a man, was found to have suffered significant injuries and was in cardiac arrest.
"Ambulance personnel carried out advanced life support and CPR but unfortunately, despite their best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.
"No one else was injured in the incident."
She added two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford, carrying a critical care paramedic and two doctors, were dispatched to the scene. An off duty nurse was also in attendance.
Inspector Andy Smith, of West Mercia Police, appealed for any witnesses to the collision to contact police on 101 quoting reference 239S of today's date
