A star of the BBC's Junior Apprentice series has been told: 'You're hired' – by a school in Shropshire.

Emma Walker, who was a semi-finalist on the 2010 show, has been appointed as Moreton Hall's first entrepreneur-in-residence and will be working with students for one year.

The 19-year-old, from Nantwich, Cheshire, has moved into a sixth form boarding house at the school near Oswestry and will work with members of the school's Moreton Enterprise business organisation to develop new projects and share expertise.

School bosses said they were delighted to welcome the teenager, who started in business by selling sweets and eggs while at school.

She went on, after being fired from the Junior Apprentice, to become one of the first students at Dragon's Den judge Peter Jones's business academy in Manchester.

The entrepreneur now visits schools to talk about enterprise and will carry on with that business while also working with Moreton Hall students.

Moreton Hall principal Jonathan Forster said: "This is a very exciting initiative for the school. Moreton Enterprises offers girls the chance to get very real, hands-on experience in running business.

"Emma brings with her some fresh ideas and an impressive level of energy. We look forward to seeing what she and the girls achieve in the next twelve months."

Emma said: "This is a great opportunity for me. I will be working with the girls on assessing the viability of packaging up Moreton Enterprises so that it can be offered to other schools.
