Plans to more than triple the size of a chicken factory in Telford, creating nearly 350 new jobs, have been given the go-ahead.
Plans to more than triple the size of a chicken factory in Telford, creating nearly 350 new jobs, have been given the go-ahead.
Faccenda Group, based at Hortonwood, applied for a near-50,000 sq ft extension to its factory, which processes chicken to be sold in supermarkets.
It was granted at a meeting of Telford & Wrekin Council's plans board last night with a unanimous vote and will create 347 jobs.
Plans board member, Councillor Nigel Dugmore, said: "This is fantastic news because it brings jobs.
"It's definitely the right location and we need to support local businesses. It's good that the existing factory will be refurbished during the work as well."
The meeting heard the company currently transported chicken products from Telford to Dudley for packaging, and back to Telford again for distribution.
Bosses say the plans will allow the operation to be consolidated onto one site.
