A paedophile from Telford who filmed himself raping a toddler before posting the video on the internet has had his claims he was wrongly convicted thrown out by top judges.
Jonathan Neil Bowen, 46, of Bricklin Mews, Hadley, was jailed indefinitely for public protection at Shrewsbury Crown Court in March last year after he admitted the rape of a child under 13, sexual assault and making and distributing indecent images of children.
But, despite admitting the offences both in police interview and in court, Bowen now claims at least two of his convictions are 'unsafe' and wrote to judges from his prison cell pleading for them to be overturned.
Bowen claimed he had mistakenly admitted at least two offences and should have been given a chance to examine the charges and change his plea before he was sentenced.
Three senior judges, sitting at London's Court of Appeal, ruled it was too late for Bowen to change his mind and dismissed his 'meritless' claims.
Officers found more than 13,000 indecent images of children on his computer. These included videos of Bowen carrying out sex acts on a child believed to be three years old.
