Anglers fear a Shropshire brook has been polluted after discovering about 10 fish dead in the water.

The brown trout were discovered at the bottom of Morda Brook, which runs through Weston Pools Fishery in Oswestry, yesterday at about 10am, they said.

The incident comes only weeks after up to 100 fish were discovered dead in the same area.

There are fears the water may have been polluted and that cattle and other animals further along the brook could be affected.

Clive Wynn, fishery manager, said: "Yesterday morning anglers noticed the trout were dead and we contacted the Environment Agency. We don't know if there has been a drop in the oxygen levels or if it has been polluted."

A spokesman for the agency said it would be carrying out investigations at the site.
