Plans have gone on view for the first time where company bosses confirmed the scheme would create about 300 jobs. The news has delighted councillors and members of Market Drayton Chamber of Trade and Commerce who say the new jobs will encourage more people to come into the town.

Chamber chairman Andy Brown today welcomed news of the job boost.

He said: "Anything that creates 300 new jobs has got to be good for Market Drayton.

"Every year we have a lot of school leavers in the area and the creation of 300 jobs will help them find careers."

Councillor Roger Hughes, Shropshire Council member for Market Drayton West, added: "This is fantastic news."

The public has until March 24 to comment on the plans as part of the consultation over the development before it is considered by Shropshire Council.

Gharry Eccles, chief executive of Muller Dairy UK, said the news plans were a "natural next step" for the company.
