The sister of a Telford teenager whose body was found in a burned out shed nearly 20 years ago said today's arrest in connection with his death was a "massive development".

Detectives were today quizzing a man on suspicion of the murder of 19-year-old Liam Wright. The engineer's body was discovered in the debris of a shed next to the ski slope at Madeley Court Centre on Monday September 10, 1990.

His sister, Deborah Mason, who was 27 at the time of his death, campaigned for several years after his death for people to come forward with information.

Today Mrs Mason was overwhelmed with the latest development in the case.

She said: "I knew something significant was happening.

"I knew my mother came over from Spain to give a statement to the police six weeks ago and I had had a visit from the police but they could not say what was happening."

Mrs Mason said it was a "massive development" and hoped it would lead to charges being brought after nearly 20 years.

At the time of Mr Wright's death, police released images of jewellery and a bottle opener found at the scene in a bid to identify the body.

His parents, Faith and Eddie, first found out that their son could be the victim after seeing the images of their son's possessions, including the rings and bottle opener, in the Shropshire Star.

They moved from Telford to Spain in 2001 where Mr Wright died in 2003.

The Wright family described their son as a charmer, a happy-go-lucky lad who loved sport and played rugby, tennis and football and he loved to ski.

However, despite his love of skiing, his family said they never knew why he was at the sports centre that night.

Mr Wright was working at Lockwell Electrics at Stafford Park as an electrical engineer at the time of his death.

The teenager was living with two friends in Brookside.

He had spent the day before with his parents before getting a taxi back home.
