The driver of the Volkswagen Golf GTi, who was in his 20s and believed to be from Shropshire, died at the intensive care unit at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham yesterday.
The man, who has not yet been named, was driving along Haughton Road towards Shifnal just after 4pm on March 6 when his car collided with a verge and a tree stump.
Police today made a fresh appeal for witnesses to the accident to contact them on 0300 333 3000.
Officers said today one of two passengers also injured in the accident, a man in his late teens, remains in a stable condition at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, where he is being treated for serious fractures.
The third occupant, a man in his 20s, was treated at the Princess Royal Hospital for minor injuries and released.
Meanwhile, a woman was in a critical but stable condition in hospital today after a two-car crash at Overley, near Wellington, yesterday about 4pm.
