Lisa Glen, 28, heard a bang in the garden and went outside to discover a wooden playhouse on fire, which spread and destroyed her daughter's first floor bedroom. She grabbed two of her children, Sharnia, three, and Jordan, nine, before fleeing the house. Her third child, Tyler, 10, was at school. Miss Glen, who lives in Penistone Close, Donnington, Telford, lost everything in the fire on Friday, after the rest of her home was damaged by smoke. But the mother-of-three has been thrown a lifeline after one of her friends contacted Asda in Donnington and asked for help with children's clothing.
Miss Glen said: "It's been a bit tough for us, the children are really upset. Everything was either damaged by the fire or the smoke.
"Everything that belonged to us was in the house so we are left with very little. I am stopping at my mum's at the moment and I am just waiting to hear from the council.
"But I would like to thank Asda and everyone in Donnington who have been brilliant."
Events co-ordinator at Asda at Donnington Wood, Dave Simmons, said: "We had a call from one of Lisa's friends on Saturday after the fire and she asked the manager if we could help.
"We contacted our head office and they have arranged for clothing from our George range to be given to the family.
"We always try to help the community when things like this happen and we want people to know that we are here for them in times like this.
"We are concerned when things like this happen and it's not just about them coming into the store to spend their money."
