Look to Germany for advice

LETTER: Last Saturday night my wife and I watched a really funny episode of Dad's Army. We also saw a documentary about the Home Guard.

We seem to be obsessed about World War Two and our victory over the Nazis. The defeat of Germany has become almost a media industry.

In the present recession Germany is backing its industries and preventing unemployment of a skilled workforce.

All we are doing in Britain is bailing out our banks – who caused most of this mess in the first place.

Ought we to follow the German way during these times? The Germans lost the war, will they win the peace?
