The father of former Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Joe Hart has spoken of his pride after his son won his first full international cap for his country.

Charlie Hart, of Bicton Heath, watched the friendly match between England and Trinidad and Tobago on television last night and was delighted when Joe took to the field as a second half substitute.His appearance netted his former club a £500,000 windfall as part of the deal which took him from Shrewsbury Town to Premier League side Manchester City.

Mr Hart said Joe's cap was a fantastic achievement for the 21-year-old Shrewsbury-born goalkeeper and something the whole family was proud about.Mr Hart said: "Of course we are proud and it's deserved as far as we're concerned and I always said he would get there, it was just a matter of time."
