Extensive cleaning had taken place at a Shropshire flat where two men were found dead, an inquest on Jaswant Singh Bajwa and Kulwant Singh Dodhar heard today.Bajwa, 30, and Dodhar, 31, were found at the bottom of a flight of stairs at a flat in Drayton Road, Shawbury.
Sukhdav Singh, 26, has been charged with the murder of the two men.
At an inquest at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court Detective Inspector Neil Jamieson said Sukhdav Singh had lived at the flat with Bajwa and both had worked at Mike's Fish Bar, which was below the flat.
The bodies were discovered by the owner of the fish bar on December 7 last year.
Mr Jamieson said: "Kulwant was a friend of Jaswant and spent a lot of his time at the flat and worked in another fish bar in Shrewsbury.
"Both had obviously been subjected to serious assault, they were found at the bottom of the stairs. On initial investigation of the scene there had been extensive cleaning taking place in the premises upstairs."
Mr Jamieson said the owner of the flat had received a phone call from Sukhdav that morning and he was described as being panicked.
"We established he left Shawbury by taxi and got a train from Shrewsbury to Birmingham, four days later he was arrested in the Smethwick area of Birmingham and was arrested for the murders of both men," he added.
Today's inquest heard a Home Office pathologist report by Dr Edmund Tapp said both men died due to blunt force head injuries.
Coroner John Ellery adjourned the inquest until after a trial had taken place.
