Service is absolute garbage

Our collection day is usually a Monday. I found myself missing the changed collection date from Monday to that of Saturday, December 22, a day that I work a shift from 7am to 2pm for the health service.

Oh I'm sure the council will come up with reasons to justify the change, but in our area if you put bins out the night before they are liable to be knocked over by irresponsible youths and the debris not collected by the council.

So I put mine out the morning of collection.

Suffice to say I had visitors that week and the refuse was not collected until December 31.

The bin was full to the brim with kitchen waste.

I had to visit the local supermarket to dispose of my glass and plastic bottles and found that even their bins were full.

How are we meant to comply with recycling and waste disposal if the bins are full? Especially when there is no room in the inn - for want of a Christmas analogy.

My friends live in Harrow (a highly populated area) and their kitchen waste is collected every week and their recycling once a fortnight.

For the amount we all pay in council tax surely they can do better?

At least empty the kitchen bins once a week and the large communal bins fairly regularly over a holiday period when most people have more to dispose of.

Or am I being too optimistic?

I hope the council gives you answers.
