If a new policy is adopted by the County Council our local primary school in Lydbury North and many other small schools like it throughout the county will face closure in the near future.

The new policy is to close two and three class schools and bus children up to six miles to a bigger school.

They say there will be cost savings but one wonders how much this will be after added transport costs. The "cost" to the children and the communities of the villages that will end up without a school will be greater.

There is a consultation period till November 9. I would urge any of your readers to write to their local county councillor or to Children and Young Peoples Service at the Shirehall.
