Swimming pool not promised
We have not, at any time, promised the people of Dawley a swimming pool, but what, in fact, I have stated is that "Dawley has been neglected for 30-plus years and . . . we are the only town in Telford who have not got a swimming pool".
In answer to the attack by Shaun Davies on TAWPA in your columns on September 29, I would like to point out that the people of Telford & Wrekin voted for a change of administration, which they now have as per the following results:
Conservatives 25, Labour 19, Lib Dems 3, Independent 4, TAWPA 3.
We have not, at any time, promised the people of Dawley a swimming pool, but what, in fact, I have stated is that "Dawley has been neglected for 30-plus years and even though Matthew Webb was born here, we are the only town in Telford who have not got a swimming pool", a fact which has been well documented.
Some time ago Phoenix School had an outdoor swimming pool, and the people of Dawley raised a considerable sum of money to erect a roof over it.
The pool was filled in and built over while the Labour Party looked on.
What was the money raised for the roof project used for?
Two previous real Labour MPs and the present one have never done anything about getting a swimming pool built in Dawley, nor has a Labour administration.
Dawley regeneration partnership was formed on June 2, 2006.
It would be nice for everyone to work together for the community.
Adrian Williams has received a certificate from Telford & Wrekin Council for attending the most induction meetings, Helen has also received a certificate for good attendance.
There are 10 vacancies on five committees at Great Dawley Parish Council - plenty for you to join.
Vic Tonks, Chairman of TAWPA, Dawley
