Thanks for great carnival
I would like to thank the Wem Carnival committee. Although few in number, they worked hard over several months and once again brought excitement, fun and laughter to our town.
I would like to thank the Wem Carnival committee.
Although few in number, they worked hard over several months and once again brought excitement, fun and laughter to our town.
Thank you also to all those who took part - the floats, taking hours of work and producing wonderful sights, fancy dress, walking tableaux dancing troupes and bands, including our Wem Jubilee Band, whom I am sure we wish every success in Harrogate at the end of September.
To the two gentlemen who drove the Silverline cars, thank you. It was luxury to be driven around in one. I'm sure the Carnival Queen and her attendants felt the same.
To all those hard-working people who conjured up such delights on the floats, to the fancy dress, walking table- aux dancing troupes and bands, thank you for bringing a touch of the exotic.
Finally, to our fire service, I wondered how many notic- ed we had a new appliance, only received that morning. Thank you for the ride gentlemen. To the town of Wem, thank you for your support, watching the procession and giving encouragement to all who took part.
Cllr Nancy Wilson, Mayor of Wem
