In September, throughout the UK, the RAF Association (RAFA) will be reaching out to communities in a fundraising drive which commemorates veterans of World War Two and subsequent conflicts, and in particular it will remember the bravery of those members of the RAF involved in the Battle of Britain.
The Battle of Britain, which took place in the skies over our country in the summer of 1940, was one of the most important moments in British history, and a decisive turning point in the war. The RAF was, at that time, all that stood between a German invasion of Britain.
The Shrewsbury and District branch of the Royal Air Forces Association will be out and about in Shrewsbury in September, inviting members of the public to donate funds to the 2007 Wings Appeal.
By donating to the appeal, the public will help towards providing welfare and care for serving and ex-serving members of the RAF and their dependents who are in need.
The association would like to express its grateful thanks to the public for their generous support over the years, and look forward to a record breaking appeal in 2007.
