How about help for scouts?

My wife and I were privileged to attend the Shropshire Severn & Trent Scout District Camp at Stanley Park, celebrating 100 years of scouting.

It was a truly brilliant occasion.

My wife was in cub scouting in Wolverhampton before we married in 1954. I was a scout at the outbreak of the Second World War and served as an Assistant Scout Master in 1955.

I am now retired after ending my leadership as District Chaplain for Telford, South & East Shropshire.

I had retired earlier from the post of District Commissioner 1972 to 1987.

Scouting still has so much to offer our youngsters, but sadly lacks support from would-be leaders, as well as funds. Is it not beyond reason that some of the funds used locally to provide play equipment which is soon spoilt, could be redirected to support volunteers in organisations such as the scouts?

These same volunteers would redirect the energies of those bent on destroying the play equipment mentioned earlier. I am sure that I am not alone in thinking that this policy is well worth of trying. How about it?
