Now, friends and family will gather at the Queen's Hotel, Wellington, on Friday night to celebrate his life. A mass has been held for him at his old school.
Mr Solon, a Liverpool Football Club supporter and former pupil at Blessed Robert Johnson School, Wellington, lived with his 42-year-old mother Caroline, sisters Nina, 22, and Ella, 14, and brother Martin, 19.
He was a part-time DJ and a highly popular member of the town's clubbing scene, often taking wheelchair-bound Nina, who has cerebral palsy, with him for a night out.
A special mass was held for him at his old school, attended by family, friends and students.
His mother said: "I've been overwhelmed by all the people who have come round to see me or tell me how much they will miss Shane. He was such a talented lad in all aspects of life and was on the brink of a really good career.
"He was very family orientated, was so protective of his sisters and loved his nan Solon and uncles Eddie and Charlie. Shane was good friends with the licensees at the Queen's and they will be putting up a plaque in his memory."
She added: "Everyone who knew Shane is welcome to come along from 7pm on Friday. My cousin Stephen Watkins will be the DJ. It will be a celebration of Shane's life and I'm sure he will be there with us in spirit."
Shane's mother, brother and sisters have just returned from a week's trip to Spain, paid for by his employer Siblu holidays.
"We spent time with the two friends who were with him when he died. They said he was the best rep they had ever had," his mother said.
A full inquest will be held at Wellington on August 21.
Mr Solon died from his injuries after falling four metres off a ledge into a river while out trekking.
Mountain rescue teams and a helicopter were alerted but he was already dead when his body was recovered.
