Organic scam revealed

Tonight with Trevor Macdonald, June 11, has blown the scam over so-called "organic" chicken, with the revelation that supposedly healthier and safer poultry contains more dangerous bacteria than factory farmed birds, despite being three times the price. A rip off.

Similarly, free range eggs are probably not free range at all, but if they were, would almost certainly contain salmonella and other bugs, picked up from wild birds.

Many so-called "organic" and "free range" products come from abroad, but are labelled "British" after being re-packaged here.

Our farmers are being undercut by low grade stuff grown by virtual slave labour, that is air freighted halfway round the world in ageing cargo planes.

I would question why it is necessary to fly-in Spanish strawberries when Hereford farmers offer much better fruit - that is if the idiot planners don't close them down following the campaign to remove polytunnels from fields.

Also, at a time when fresh British asparagus is available, plane loads of Peruvian produce are offered at 20p per bunch, thus destroying UK farmers livelihoods, but then that is globalisation, and to Hell with the environment and air miles.

Save the planet? They must be joking.
