Match day parking an earner

What rubbish - I think this stinks of snobbery.

If you go to most big grounds you find schools nearby opening up their grounds for football parking. They charge anything from £2 to £10. This eases the congestion because people do not park on the road and it creates much-needed cash for the school. Seems like a good idea to me.

Perhaps now the residents will be quite happy when supporters park all along the streets in the area. What will they do then?

If a school in the area opened their gates on match days (the schools would not be open Saturday afternoon or Tuesday evening), and could only accommodate 20 cars at, say, £5 per car, it would be secure for the car owner (either gates locked or caretaker in attendance). Multiply that by around 30 home games and I get that to £3,000 for the school.

Not to be sneezed at!

I wonder if some of the residents in the area whose kids attend these schools could generate these sort of funds?

Good old Shrewsbury residents and their communal spirit.
