Freedoms permit all religions
With the news that a larger mosque is likely to gain planning permission in Wellington, can I ask the Muslim people of the area to reflect on the fact that it is the democratic spirit of the British people that allows them to practise their religion relatively unmolested.
With the news that a larger mosque is likely to gain planning permission in Wellington, can I ask the Muslim people of the area to reflect on the fact that it is the democratic spirit of the British people that allows them to practise their religion relatively unmolested.
This is in sharp contrast to the freedoms afforded Christians and other faiths in most Islamic states.
I ask that the largely peaceful Muslim community of this area vocally supports the democratic rights we all enjoy, when the more fundamental among their number seek to destroy them.
