More hope of winning the lottery
I sympathise with your correspondent of May 11 who has several hundred Premium Bonds but has not yet won a prize.

At least he has several hundred chances each month. Personally I have three. No, not three hundred - three!
When Premium Bonds were introduced several decades ago, they were sold in single Bonds at £1 each.
When my three sons were born, on each occasion I purchased a Bond on their behalf as a birthday gift and as an investment.
I travelled the world a bit at that time but each time I changed address I notified the Bonds Office and requested that my numbers be checked against the unclaimed prize list.
When I stopped travelling I continued to do this every two years. My three Bonds are now 42, 43, and 44 years old, and have never won a penny.
Neither have they earned interest except for the Government. I have considered buying more but with my experience it doesn't seem worthwhile.
And by my experience the correspondent will probably be drawing their pension before they claim a win.
If it's any consolation I am assured by the Bonds Office that every Bond has an equal chance, whenever it was purchased, or if it is a single Bond or one of a group of one hundred.
They also assure me that Shropshire is one of the luckiest counties in the country. I also believe in Father Christmas.
I find that I am luckier with the National Lottery. At least I win the occasional £10.
Good luck in June.
