Put a stop to hostage reporting

This probably won't make me popular but it's about time you stopped writing about Faye Turney and her fellow hostages.

These sailors gave themselves up without protest and then went on to capitulate to all requests from their captors to apologise and grovel on Iranian TV.

They say that they were in fear of their lives but you would not guess that from the TV images showing them smiling, smoking and eating with gusto.

Faye Turney, in particular, appeared to be willing to say anything that would make Britain out as the aggressor.

Even after they had been granted their freedom she was still apologising and thanking her captors for her good treatment.

This was evident from the photo that appeared on the front page of the Star on April 4. There they are, laughing and generally looking as if they were just coming back off holiday.

I feel they should have shown a little more backbone and, if they felt they were in danger, they should have contained their enjoyment and let the world know they were being coerced.

So no more, please! They are not heroes or heroines. Let's save these sentiments for the real soldiers who have given their lives for this country and have not received goodie bags and large payments for giving in to the enemy.

If they had any decency at all, all payments for their stories should be donated to the families and children of the fallen soldiers.
