Don't run from city decision

In reply to C Price's letter, on February 10, "Addressing a problem". As a proud Black Country man, I can categorically state that regardless of how politicians change the boundaries you will never will be a member of the Black Country.

Birmingham is Birmingham, The Black Country is the Black Country, and Shropshire is Shropshire.

Telford & Wrekin Council voted to join the City Region without first asking the permission of the residents.

A referendum should have been held.

I, like a good many, am against this move. I did not move to Shropshire to be governed by Birmingham.

Telford & Wrekin Council is going to investigate whether there is a case for Wolverhampton Airport at Halfpenny Green. Development of this airport is totally against the wishes of the Black Country people, and residents of the area.

Remember what the present leader of the council said when he took over the reins - that he would listen to the people. Well he did not listen about the City Region when he did not hold a referendum.

Another person who claims to listen is Tony Blair, but it has been reported that he is going to secretly rubber stamp the European Constitution in Brussels without consulting his likely successor or, more importantly, the British people.

He will travel to Berlin on Sunday to sign the 50-page agreement.

We all know that Tony Blair will run before this non-reversable action has its full effect on the British people.

However the administration at the civic building will not be able to run and hide, as May 3 is fast approaching.
