Don't put all blame on riders

With reference to the article in the Shropshire Star on January 2 regarding horse riding in Nesscliffe country park. I have lived in Nesscliffe and ridden my horses in the area for over 40 years, it is totally unacceptable that horse riders should take all the blame for the state of the footpaths. The increased number of walkers and mountain bikers in the area has also contributed to churning up the paths.

If we are talking about people being irresponsible I would like to draw your attention to the fact that people do not park in the designated areas and dog owners do not have their dogs on leads. On many occasions whilst riding my horse, it has been upset by unleashed dogs.

Nesscliffe Hill, Hopton Hill and the Cliffe are large enough areas for everyone to enjoy, horse riders should not be discriminated against.
