Buses with little going for them
A lot is being said of late about getting out of our cars and on to public transport, all in the name of going green. I have tried it and the bus is never going to replace the car.
I have tried it and the bus is never going to replace the car. My reasons are:
My car always leaves on time, unlike some bus services, and is not cancelled at short notice.
My car takes a quarter of the time it takes a bus to travel to the PRH from Stirchley.
The seats in my car are always clean. Some bus passengers seem to think the seat facing them is for putting their feet on.
There is always a seat in my car for me and I do not have to stand all the way to the town centre.
I can choose the music I want to hear, not headbanging music some people play behind you.
In my car I do not have people talking into mobile phones all the time about the most inane subjects.
I do not have to listen to bad language in my car. It is a common problem on the bus.
In my car I do not have to sit next to people whose personal hygiene leaves a lot to be desired.
I do not have rowdy children and crying children in my car either.
And, finally, in my car I do not feel threatened by groups of hooded youths.
As much as I would like to help save the world by going green, the bus versus car debate is not going to do it for me.
