Crossing a priority for town

I would like to dispute Gordon Brown's accusations that I have been trying to stop on-street parking in Cleobury Mortimer. The fact is that it has been more the reverse. I have always believed that Cleobury should have on-street parking but with the provision of a safe crossing for pedestrians.

The on-street parking is an essential part of the livelihood of the traders but I am sure we would all welcome a safe crossing area as over the past few years I have been presented with many petitions for a crossing with hundreds of signatures on them.

A crossing is really needed because of the danger trying to cross a busy road between parked cars.

Surely people in Cleobury Mortimer deserve to be able to cross the road safely, but I agree that Brown's corner is not the place for it.

I hope the traffic management committee will be able to find a safe place more in the middle of town where we can have this crossing. I am hoping this committee will take note of the parish council and its concerns for the pedestrians of this town.
