Treating the area with contempt

Which supermarket and its customers treat our environment with the most contempt? There is Tesco at Brixton Way, Shrewsbury. The stream, trees and open spaces are strewn with trolleys and other debris.

At Somerfield, on the Reabrook, there are trolleys and litter in the brook and surrounding green spaces.

And at Asda, again on the Reabrook, trolleys and other rubbish in the brook and on its banks.

There is legislation in place which makes these companies responsible for their rubbish and trolleys. I think it's about time council officers got off their backsides and enforced the law.

Are our officials frightened of upsetting these companies? I bet if I, or any other minion out there, was creating the filth that these companies are we would be prosecuted.

Come on, you supermarket chains, get your acts together and look after the communities you are at the moment abusing. And come on, SABC. If they continue the abuse, prosecute them and any other company that shows no responsibility for the waste they generate.
