Animals get better treatment
Today I read that 19 newts were transferred from a pond which will be built on, costing the tax payers about £21,000 per newt. While it is understood that these are a protected species surely this money could be better spent investing in hospital services?

People are being deprived of hospital beds, yet our government seems to think that a few newts are more important than people. What sort of government do we have?
What is urgently needed is a re-think on the manner that the NHS is run. People are patients and in many cases are ready to make some contribution each week. Many of the overheads could be curtailed yet the NHS won't permit this.
Today I witnessed a TV programme which showed a badger that was injured in a fight being picked up by van and taken to a wild animal sanctuary and given medical assistance.
I have finally reached the conclusion that animals are treated better than people when it comes to medical and surgical care and nursing.
