Changes are not for the better

I have lived in the Telford area all my life. I was born and raised in Horsehay and now live in St Georges. In my 61 years I have seen massive changes and have never been an opponent of progress, but I do take issue with changing things just for the sake of it.

The much-maligned Telford Development Corporation had a team of dedicated engineers who provided us with a great road system, and if the corporation had been allowed to finish the job it started everyone would have seen and reaped the benefits of this system.

When I am out in the car now and see the sign "Building a better Borough" the first thought to enter my head is, "What are they ruining now?"

I struggle to think of one road scheme that has made an improvement. I wonder if the traffic management team at Telford and Wrekin is of this earth. They stumble from one disaster to another with the inability to see what the people who pay their salaries want or don't want. Whatever that may be.

All we hear from them is that the accident figures are such that they have to make these changes, but we never see the statistics.

The only ones we see are the misleading signs on Queensway leading people to believe these numbers refer to Queensway when in actual fact they are for the A442 through Shropshire from its borders with Ches-hire and Worcestershire.

These people want taking to book for the damage they are causing not only to our roads but also to our environment.
