Walkways need revamping
Travelling around Telford it is very difficult not to see all the empty cycle/walkways. I wonder how much of our hard earned council tax and business rates have been wasted on them?

After having completed a private risk assessment on the cycle/walkways, the only conclusion is that they are unsafe for both cyclists and pedestrians, and should be converted to walkways only with immediate effect.
It is fortunate that they are rarely used, considering the risks they present.
Where are the health and safety people when you want them? Let's face it, most cyclists are untrained, undisciplined and uncontrolled. If there is no cycle/walkway, then the footpath will do. How many cyclists have read the Highway Code, let alone own a copy?
I suppose the cycling lobby will be upset, but if the cap fits wear it. Obviously there are some cyclists who are very responsible.
I certainly would not want to be on a cycle/walkway with a mixture of cycles and pedestrians. Some of the cyclists can travel very quickly and quite silently.
