Vehicles' horns are safe to use

"People tooting their horns is not a safe way to drive," says David Morgan, of Telford & Wrekin Borough Council (Shropshire Star, October 20). Did Mr Morgan think about his comment before he made it? Horns in motor vehicles are designed to be used safely while the vehicle is in motion.

Surely, therefore, it is even safer to use the horn when stationary at traffic lights.

Have David Morgan, and the council as a whole, considered the very real danger posed by motorists made angry by delays imposed by traffic lights which are, at best, of extremely dubious value?

If this sort of muddled thinking was behind the decision to install traffic lights at Ketley Brook roundabout then I am not at all surprised by the widespread objections from the people who matter; that is those who must use this area.
