I know my Highway Code too

I can assure you, Mr Wilkinson, that I know every bit of the Highway Code. I was told by a police officer in 2001 that vehicles which need to overtake other vehicles travelling at 70mph can go up to 77mph (to give them the extra speed to do the overtaking), then obviously go back to the speed limit.

When I was maintaining 70mph, which was the limit for the Eastern Primary at the time, I went up to the police and asked them if people were overtaking on the Eastern Primary what speed can they go up to, as I had many overtaking me and I was told that you could go up to 77mph, but no more.

Otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it in my last letter, and no, I don't do any overtaking on the Eastern Primary if I can help it.

However if I am approaching a vehicle and the person is going slow enough (which is not very often nowadays) for me to overtake without breaking the speed limit then I do.
