Yobs fire paintball gun at mum
Thugs fired a paintball gun at a woman in Wem - covering the woman in paint. The mother, who has not been named, was left shocked and covered in luminous yellow paint following the incident in Station Road, Wem.
Officers said she was unhurt but upset after being struck by the paintball, which was fired from a moving car.
Police Constable Lyn Downes, of Wem police, branded the incident "irresponsible". She said the woman was leaning into the rear driver's door of her car at the time dealing with her children.
Constable Downes said: "Someone has shot her with a paintball pellet hitting her on the back.
"She was left shocked more than anything else.
"She had leaned into the car because of the children and as another vehicle has driven past someone has fired it at her.
"This is extremely irresponsible behaviour and is not to be encouraged.
"I would strongly advise people against this sort of behaviour as it could have had far more serious consequences."
Mayor of Wem Councillor Peggy Carson said if the paintball pellet had hit the woman or one of the children in the face it could have blinded them.
She said: "It's absolutely disgusting."
The incident happened between 3.45pm and 5pm on Saturday. Call police on 08457 444888.
